It was a bright sunny day in may, 1920 and all of the children in the neighborhood were outside frolicking along the ocean shore, all of them except for Zeegan. Zeegan was a child that didn't enjoy socializing, and never really fit in with anyone, including his own parents. Zeegan was an only child, eight years old to be exact, yet it was as if he didn't exist. Zeegan's father was a successful business man, and his mother a housewife, never paid much attention to him. Zeegan often went to bed hungry, and had to wake in the middle of the night to steal food to survive. Every time he would get caught stealing, his parents would punish him, yet it wouldn't do much good, because they would completely ignore him after. Eventually Zeegan was a good child, and didn't enjoy stealing, yet was forced to do so to survive, and eventually it would get to be too much for him.
On a rainy day in September, Zeegan decided that he had finally had too much and made a run for it. He simply ran through the front door until the large house was no longer visible. It was so cold and wet that Zeegan knew that he needed to find some form of shelter fast. This is when he would meet his future best friend Jonovan. Jonovan was a short, round man in his early thirties, and had some deep magical secrets that Zeegan would find out later. Jonovan took Zeegan to his small round wooden hut, a hut that didn't look like much from the outside, and didn't really look like much on the inside either. You see Zeegan had never been used to anything simple, as his parents had always decorated their house with only the finest items, and they only ate the finest of food, and drank the finest of wines. Jonovan was much different, as his small hut was decorated with cheap objects, but it already felt more like a home than his parents house. In just one short cold evening, Zeegan had talked more than he had in all of his life. Zeegan curled up in the bed that Jonovan had set up for him, and was fast asleep within a mater of minutes.
The next morning Zeegan awoke to an empty hut, and a note from Jonovan. The note simply said that Jonovan was out doing a job and would be back later that night, so Zeegan decided to explore the hut. He found mainly everyday items, such as pots and pans for cooking, and extra sheets for the beds, but then he noticed a glowing book. Zeegan decided to take a closer look at the book and found it to be full of magical information, and was amazed when he found his name in the middle of the book. He read on and found out that he was the only person in the universe that was capable of defeating an evil witch named Wiki.
Wiki the Wicked Witch was a horrible old hag that lived in a huge stone castle two towns away from Jonovan, She is the reason that Jonovan lives by himself, as she captured his family when he was a young boy, and has vowed to find them ever since. Just five years ago he met someone that helped him figure out how to defeat Wiki. He found out that the way to defeat her was a young boy that lived a few towns away. Jonovan knew that he must some how find the young boy, but how?
Zeegan had gotten so involved in the book that he had not realized the darkness starting to overtake the small hut. He heard the door slowly open with a load creak, and in walked Jonovan covered in mud. He was just about to ask Jonovan why he was covered in mud, and what he had been up to, when Jonovan all of a sudden noticed the glowing book in his hands. He nervously asked Zeegan how much he had read, and when Zeegan told him about how he saw that he was needed to destroy the Wicked Witch, and that he was up to the challenge, Jonovan felt relived. He told Zeegan that he would begin to tell him about the plan he had developed to defeat Wiki in the morning, and that they both needed a good nights sleep to be ready for the large task at hand.
Zeegan woke the next morning to the smell of a large breakfast that Jonovan had just cooked. Jonovan wanted him to eat a great feast to be sure he could make the journey to the Witches lair. The two talked about Jonovan's plan over breakfast and gathered a few goods and started the journey. The Stormy weather had cleared, revealing a beautiful sunrise followed by a clear blue sky. The journey was a long one, with the only stop being at a large crystal lake for a quick drink. Just as the sky turned to a dark black, the travelers caught a glimpse of the tall towers of Wiki's lair. Jonovan pulled out a tent and created a fire so that he could fix super for them. Over super Jonovan would finish telling Zeegan the details of the plan that he had created. His plan required Zeegan to sneak into the castle and steal a unicorn that Wiki had captured many years ago. Everybody knows that unicorns are rare, but this was particular unicorn was extremely rare. The witch didn't realize it, but this unicorn had magical powers that only Zeegan could command it to use, if anybody else tried to use them it would do nothing. Zeegan entered the east side of the castle, which felt so far away from the dungeon that was located at the bottom of the west side. He slowly and quietly crept along the corridors inching towards the dungeon, until he came to a complete stop when he felt a hand on his shoulder. He slowly turned around to see Wiki and someone that he would have never guessed.
"Like I promised my honor" said Jonovan. "The boy is here just like I promised." Jonovan had a huge smile that stretched across his large face, he knew that his loyalty to Wiki would be great. The witch ordered Zeegan to be taken to the dungeon and locked up. Zeegan felt a thump on the back of his head, and everything went black.
Zeegan felt a throbbing pain in the back of his head as he sat up and looked around a cold, wet and dark room. He could see a figure just on the other side of the room, but it was too dark to make it out. He slowly crept up to it, and realized that he was looking at a unicorn. The magical unicorn! he thought to himself, and before he could even say a word, the unicorn said "you must be Zeegan." "Yes I am" he said. "are you the magical unicorn?" he asked. "I am the magical unicorn, and the one tool you have to defeat Wiki the wicked witch."
Zeegan and the unicorn sat around the dungeon for what seemed days, yet it turned out to be just hours and devised a perfect plan. Jonovan and a guard were walking by the dungeon doors to check on the prisoners when Zeegan asked if he and the unicorn could go talk to the witch and talk to her. Jonovan didn't see the harm in that, and granted it, and led them to her. The witch was seated in on her throne, and the second that the unicorn opened its mouth to speak the witch, Jonovan and the guard feel to the ground a died. After a matter of ten minutes every person working Wiki was dead on the floor. You see what Zeegan discovered the unicorns magical power was his voice, and since he was such a sweet unicorn, his voice was rather sweet as well, and far too much for Wiki the wicked witch to handle.
The unicorn with the witch being defeated was free and he begun to transform right in front of Zeegan's eyes. Within a matter of seconds Zeegan was looking at another little boy! The young boy went on to explain that he was really Zeegan's brother and that he and his parents were put under a curse by Wiki, and that Wiki was no ordinary witch, but his grandmother. Both of the boys set off from the castle, working their way towards their parents house. Zeegan was a little nervous to see his parents again, because he still remembered the old parents that hated him. This would not be the case though, the second that the two boys reached the large house, their father and mother ran out to them and picked them up hugging and kissing them, and took them right inside to start eating. The whole family would be so close from now on, and never mention Wiki the wicked witch ever again, and live happily ever after!
So kids, remember this, if you parents seem mean, they might have a curse on them -- Or they could just be telling you to do something that you need to do because they love you.
