Zenith TV: Portable with a Built-In Video Recorder

Leigh Vaughn
I couldn't live without my little, portable Zenith T.V. with the built-in video recorder. Most of the TV's with the built-in VCR work for a long time, but the VCR part of it usually quits working long before the TV quits working, This little TV I have has lasted at least fourteen years or more, longer then Sony or Sylvania. One very important thing, I need the sound of the television on to fall asleep. I wouldn't be able to tape my soap opera or other shows. I couldn't watch old movies on VHS. I would miss news, educational shows, comedies and my reality shows. I tape my favorite shows if I'm going to be gone or if there are two TV shows I like playing at the same time.

My Favorite Shows

I couldn't miss my favorite reality shows, The Apprentice, The Bachelor, Project Runway, Dancing with the Stars, Survivor and Top Design, (where I can learn how to design and flip houses) to name a few. I would miss my favorite soap opera, (Young and the Restless) that I've watched since it first started. I couldn't record my favorite comedies, The Office or Earl. I couldn't watch my favorite old movies, (like Basic Instinct, The Abyss, Sea of Love, Interview with the Vampire, Jerry Maguire and Grumpy Old Men) that I still have recorded on video. I might miss Grey's Anatomy or Desperate Housewives, two more of my favorite shows.

I Have to Have a TV in My Bedroom

I have a roommate and he wants to watch, (The Golf Channel or some other TV show I'm not in to) I can watch something else, no problem. It's so much more comfortable watching TV in bed that I don't mind watching in my bedroom at all. The screens a Little smaller, but I'm closer to it, so that doesn't bother me. If I really can't sleep I can take a hot bath, go get a glass of milk and maybe a piece of toast and watch one of my taped shows. It really comes in handy having taped shows when there's nothing else on. I can fast forward over commercials and change channels with my remote. Sometimes I'm able to turn off the TV if I'm already drifting off, but many times I wake up with it still on.

Education, News, History

I would miss lots of news reports and educational shows that I usually wouldn't watch, but if they're on I'll watch them. Some of the latest game shows are very educational and I love entertainment news to catch up on the latest celebrities, like Britney Spears, Jessica Simpson, Tom Cruise and lots of my other favorites. I love to learn history of criminals and entertainers, it's always fascinated me. Some times I actually find something of value to me on the morning news shows like learning how to save money on the Internet or learn something help full about my health, besides the regular news. One of the best things about TV next to the Internet is that it's free entertainment!

My Final Review of Zenith Brand TV's

I don't think these portable TV's with the built-in video recorders are even available anymore. I couldn't find any on the net. I did come across great reviews on some of Zenith's new plasma TV's, (the hottest new craze) and most had five star ratings. The ratings included quality, ease of use and value, all five stars. I'll just cross my fingers that mine lasts for fourteen more years.

I have one like this myself and it works great. With TiVo and DVR's I guess these are going by the wayside nowadays.
