Zero or Low Calorie Foods that Taste Good

Crystal Sciarini
Low calorie foods get a bad rap in my opinion, especially from my husband. He swears he can tell when I give him low calorie foods in place of his norms. Well to prove him wrong I put a few substitutes into the regular containers, like Splenda in his sugar shaker. After a week or so I told him and he was surprised. He FINALLY admitted that not all low calorie foods are awful. Here are some of my favorite zero or low calorie foods that can be found at many local grocers.

Walden Farms
Walden Farms has so many wonderful zero calorie foods. They are my definite favorite for zero calorie foods that taste good. I have tried all of their salad dressings, their marshmallow crème, raspberry jelly, chocolate syrup, and pancake syrup. All of the above are delicious. My only complaint is the chocolate syrup gets a weird texture when on ice cream, but the flavor stays the same.

Blue Bunny Fudge Bars
I love, love, love ice cream and have sabotaged many diet days by giving into my cravings until I found Blue Bunny Fudge Bars. At only ninety calories these fudge bars make an excellent low calorie food and are easily my favorite low calorie food that actually tastes good. The Blue Bunny Fudge Bars can be found in your grocers freezer section. Now if only someone would replace the stick with something that doesn't ruin the last few bites of your dessert with wood taste...

Kernel Season's
Another company that has excellent zero calorie foods that taste good is Kernel Season's. They have a zero calorie butter and popcorn seasonings that jazz up your popcorn. Every dieter knows that a popcorn is an awesome low calorie snack, but who wants plain dry popcorn all the time? I was able to find Kernel Season's at a local grocer. However, if you are unable to find Kernel Season's in your area you can purchase right from their web site. My favorite flavor is Sour Cream and Onion.

Special K Italian Tomato and Herb Crackers
I am a carb junkie so switching to a lifestyle diet change of fruits and vegetables has been difficult. I miss fresh baked bread among other yummy carbs, so I was especially excited to try the Special K Italian Tomato and Herb crackers. The box said seventeen crackers was only 19 calories. I was pleasantly surprised that these crackers are incredibly yummy and help curb the carb craving.
