Zesty Marzetti Honey Dijon Chicken

Rebecca Livermore
I love to cook and I especially enjoy making up new recipes, so when I was given an opportunity to try a sample of Marzetti salad dressing, I jumped at the chance.

I was hoping for a ranch-style dressing and even had ideas of ways that I could use it in recipes, so I was initially a little disappointed when I opened up the package and saw Marzetti Honey Dijon Dressing. I truthfully am generally not a fan of honey mustard, but since I had made a commitment to complete this review, I was determined to come up with a way to use the dressing.

I opened the package of salad dressing and squeezed it into a small bowl. I took a little taste of it and was surprised; it tasted a lot better than other honey Dijon salad dressings that I've tried. I knew that the sample of the dressing wasn't going to be enough to prepare the dish I wanted to try, so I sent my husband to the store to pick up more Marzetti Honey Dijon Dressing. Unfortunately, he came home with a different brand of honey mustard salad dressing. I took a taste of "the other brand," and wasn't thrilled, but time was short, and I wasn't about to have my husband go back to the store to get the right dressing.

In order to accurately test the recipe I concocted using Marzetti Honey Dijon Dressing, I prepared one chicken breast using Marzetti, and chicken for the rest of the family using the other brand of honey mustard salad dressing. I was surprised to find that not only was the Marzetti dressing superior in taste when tasted straight from the package, the chicken prepared with Marzetti Honey Dijon Dressing was also much more tasty than the chicken I prepared using the other brand of dressing. Therefore, for best results, when preparing the recipe below, I'd strongly suggest using Marzetti Honey Dijon Dressing rather than another brand of honey mustard salad dressing.

Zesty Marzetti Honey Dijon Chicken

½ cup Marzetti Honey Dijon Dressing

2 tbsp. soy sauce

4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts, rinsed

1 thin slice of red onion, separated into rings.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

Combine the salad dressing and soy sauce and set aside.

Place the rinsed chicken breasts in a lightly greased 11 x 7 baking dish. Pour the MarzettiĀ® salad dressing mixture over the top of the chicken. Bake, uncovered, for 35 minutes, or until the chicken is done in the center.

Garnish with sliced red onion.

(Note: For best results, turn the chicken and baste with the pan juices every 15 minutes during the cooking process. )
