This morning I received an email from Jan's Gold Crown Hallmark store at Edwardsville Marketplace in Edwardsville, Illinois. However, I am presently in Rockville, Maryland, so I forwarded the email to my daughter in Edwardsville at work. She was able to travel to the Hallmark store on her lunch hour; and, she was successful in purchasing two of the Zhu Zhu Pet Hamsters; Chunk and Pipsqueak! Yea! There was a limit, you could only purchase two toys; and, that is fine. Actually, that is wonderful. I am glad that the store is allowing people to be able to purchase these toys for personal gifts for family members or friends. No hoarding or buying many to sell for a higher price online.
It has been a week since my last article; an, I was beginning to think we would not be able to find, or purchase this toy. Even online many of the regular toy and department stores that sell the Zhu Zhu Pets are out of stock.
Target does allow you to sign up for an email alert that notifies you when an item becomes available for purchase online. However, when you are looking for a gift for a specific occasion, it is better than nothing, but still causes a bit of concern. You still need to continue to shop around, and hope that if you receive and alert that there will be time for shipping.
There is also a site where you can obtain the latest shopping/availability of the Zhu Zhu Pets. At that site every store listed has been out of stock for a while.
Networking seems to be key in this shopping quest. We were fortunate that when I received the email notification this morning, that I could forward it to my daughter, and that she was able to drive to the shop on her lunch hour (...even though she had to drive through a fast food place and gobble down a cold sandwich for lunch.). She was able to arrive at the store in time to purchase a limited supply of the toys. The wonderful part for us is that she was successful in her endeavors.
The key to shopping for these Zhu Zhu Pets seems to be to network, be persistent, and to not give up. I did purchase two accessories first even though it seemed a bit silly, but then was able to purchase the hamsters later. Now I'm glad we have the accessories too.
Good luck with your Zhu Zhu Pet shopping!

Post a CommentOh another one how about the run on Cabbage Patch Dolls - people started making their own because could find them in the stores :)
This reminds me of years ago when Sheryl and I would go on the searches for the GI Joe vehicles and the original Transformers for our boys. Glad you were successful in your quests!
