Zilok: Renting Instead of Buying

Why Buy it when You Can Rent It

Mary Kirkland
An apartment or home isn't the only things you can rent these days. As people worry about the economy and try to save as much money as possible a new way of getting things you may need has made its way to the consumer.

On Zilok.com they have made it possible for one person to rent anything from a prom dress to a power drill from another person on the site. Whether you are an owner or renter it's easy and free to register on their site.

They also have a blog and a forum to talk to others about your experience renting or lending from other members.

Most people have several things in their garage or closet that they don't use but don't want to sell, so why not rent it out and make a little money in the process. Why not rent out that chain saw that you've only used a few times since you bought it.

Another reason to check out the site is if you want to try a product out before you actually buy it. Not sure what kind of stereo, walkman or ipod you'd rather have? Why not take it home and try it out to see if it will work for you.

Zilok is the first online marketplace to let businesses and individuals list just about any kind of item and put it up for rent. Zilok is giving consumers the option of renting something they may only need to use one time, instead of having to buy it.

All those things you've tried selling on ebay but no one wanted, might just rent out for a weekend. After listing your items on Zilok, all you have to do is wait to be notified when someone has submitted a request for your item. You can then either agree to the rental or not, if you do Zilok will provide a rental agreement for you. Then you either meet the person to rent the item or in some cases the item can be shipped by mail to the renter.

After you are done with the item you either meet to return it and pay for it or ship it back. Both the owner and the renter can then leave feedback on the transaction.

Since a rental agreement backs up each of the transactions and a deposit is required in most cases, owners and renters alike are less likely to have problems.

What an excellent choice for making some money or renting something you wouldn't use all the time, but might need on occasion.
