Zinc Supplements: Treatment for Acne

Montrealers who have serious acne can get an referral from their family doctor for a dermatologist in their area, or they choose to visit a private clinic and pay for the services rendered.


There are some alternative treatments to try beside the standard doctor approved treatments.

Some studies show that taking supplements can help in the treatment of acne.

Tea tree oil, alpha hydroxy acid and azeliac acid, the latter two being natural substances have been used to treat acne. Apart from these products there is also:

Zinc supplements

Zinc is a mineral which research has shown has helped in the healing of wounds. It also is known to reduce inflammation. Though there is not enough research on the subject yet, zinc supplements may help cure acne. If you use a lotion and apply it to your skin, it may reduce the bouts of acne you would normally get.

Side effects for using zinc supplements

Bad taste in the mouth
Nausea
