Zinnias of Past and Future

Harold Dean Sink
Zinnias have come and gone and always give a show.
Bees, butterflies, and even hummingbirds flock to them.
The corner of the yard seems to glow all upon its own.

Now it is winter and the zinnias are all gone.
Many tiny seeds lay still in a jar waiting for a new home.
Spring will soon be here to welcome them back.

May hues will the all become.
Some will in the yellows,
And others an orange or red.

Other zinnias are pink or purple.
Then there are the creamy toppers.
The fancier ones like to show off.

They sport more than one color on their blooms.
Yellow tipped reds will try to outdo
The orange tipped yellows in the same view.

No matter how many grow up this new spring,
All of the zinnias will stand up and sing.
