Zinwell ZAT970A Digital to Analog TV Converter Box Review

Carmen Evans
There are two major timer event converters that I have bought: the Zinwell ZAT970A and the DTVPal. Both electronic devices, the Zinwell ZAT970A and the DTVPal, have some advantages and problems.

The remote control of the Zinwell ZAT970A TV converter is the cheapest one that I have ever bought in my life buying electronic devices. A couple of days alter I have bought the Zinwell ZAT970A, the down arrow button began having problems. This is really an unpleasant thing to experience with the Zinwell ZAT970A. When we buy electronic devices, we expect to have problems with them after several years. I also think the remote control of the Zinwell ZAT970A will not work after a year or else from now.

There is a feature that has nothing to do with many of us: the analog passthru of the Zinwell ZAT970A. It is designed for those who will be watching clear air stations after a recent shoutdown that happened a couple of month before. Many electronics devices have poor guides and the Zinwell ZAT970A is oner of them. I say this because the Zinwell ZAT970A guide only let you know what will be the next program and the program that is on right now. The Dish DTVpal has another problem that many electronic devices have. It has a some software bugs in the guide, and I do not recommend it due to this problem. The Zinwell ZAT970A does not seem to have this problem and many electronic devices of this type do not have it.

I use my Zenith while watching live TV but o like the Zinwell ZAT970A VCR and DVR features. One of the best things of the Zinwell ZAT970A is that you can record channels while you are away from home, using your TV antenna and your VCR. I like this feature because I neither have satellite nor cable at home. I would also like to be able to watch a station and record another at the same time, but this is not possible with the Zinwell ZAT970A at this moment, and many electronics devices of this type cannot do this yet. You must set the timer of the converter when you need to record a channel. One thing that we must keep in mind is to make sure the clock time of your VCR matches the time on your Zinwell ZAT970A TV converter. If you do not do that, you might miss part of your favorite TV program. You can have two different converter at home. One for you TV in the living room and one for your TV in your bedroom.

One of the best features of many electronic devices is that you can program DVD recordings, and the Zinwell ZAT970A is one of them. Among those electronic devices there is the Zinwell ZAT970A digital to analog TV converter. It "awakens"to eight channels at 8 specific times. With this feature of the Zinwell ZAT970A you can record any TV program from different stations at any given time. Many electronic devices cannot do that.

As we said in the above paragraphs, the Zinwell ZAT970A digital to analog converter is very good. The Zinwell ZAT970A is one of those electronic devices that has problems with its remote control and guide but it is very good when you use it to record TV programs.

They are "junk"; have been through 3 control units, and the only way to get a new control unit is to buy another kit. I'm buying a digital TV.

The only reason I bought this converter box over all the others is because it had the program timers that would allow me to use my VCR to record things while I'm away. It all worked fine for a few months most of the time, but now, it rarely works. I can program the timers and everything looks OK, even after turning the unit off & back on. But when it comes time to record, the Zinwell will tune to the highest channel in the programmed channels list, which in my case is channel 61. Sometimes the internal clock will set itself to the year 2041, so again, my program won't get recorded. The only way to insure something will be recorded is to just leave the unit turned on, and tuned to the channel you want recorded by the VCR. You can't depend on it to change channels later on. I think there is a DTV box made by Dish Network that also has timers, so I would advise trying that one. The problems I have with my Zinwell are well-documented on other websites, so it's not just my unit. I have owne

I purchased a Zinwell converter box and it had been working fine. Yesterday, however, the on/off button became stuck and I can't use it. Please tell me what to do. I don't know where to go to have it fixed. Thanks. My email number is marilyn1932@sbcglobal.net

After setting my ZAT-970A "Program Timer" to the selected channels, all set channels change to the last (highest numbered) channel.
This has happened twice now and really messes up my carefully set weekly programing.

    Here is ZinNet's Respones:
    "Dear customer
I'm sorry to inform you that wakup channel changes is one problem that we are encountering with now, as of now there is no solution to that. Again we truly apologize for the inconvenience
