Zippy's Food Experience: The Best Restaurant in Hawaii

There is always a restaurant that is synonymous with the city or state that you are in. For example if I asked you where you could find an "In-n-Out" burger or a "White Castle," you would be able to rattle off many different locations. Ask someone from Hawaii where the nearest Zippy's was and I can guarantee that 99% of the time they would answer your question without blinking.

Zippy's is a chain in Hawaii specializing in local food. You can also find the usual stuff like burgers, fries and pasta, but if you are going to Zippy's you need to try the other stuff. Besides, would you go to Red Lobster and order the steak? Good I am glad we are on the same page.

There are all kinds of different local foods that you can find on the menu. You can find a miso butterfish dish, one of my favorites. However they only serve this a few times a month. If you have ever had miso soup, the Japanese soup, then you have an idea of what it tastes like. The flavors mesh well together because the miso based dressing compliments the buttery softness of the fish. The fish literally melts in your mouth.

Another dish here is the oxtail stew, a wonderful stew of veggies and oxtail. Perfect with some bread or rice. And of course there is the World Famous, Zippy's chili. This stuff is so ono (delicious) that you can find it in stores on the mainland. Zippy's also has started a shipping option of the chili so you can get it no matter where you live. It is a creamy mixture of flavors that rival some of the best chili dishes.

They also have one section of the restaurant that does desserts. You will find all kinds of pies and delicacies that will tantalize your taste buds. If you are a sugar addict you will surely find your fix here.

The next time you are in Hawaii be sure to stop by your local Zippy's, there is a good chance that you will be able to find one in walking distance from the hotel or area you are staying at. People will say that you need to see the beaches of Hawaii that you need to see a real luau or the mountains in Hawaii. For me personally, you need to experience the food in Hawaii. And what better restaurant to do so than at Zippy.
