What struck me about this particular desk and made me buy it, was not only its sheer size, but its sleekness too. This desk has a clean look to it, almost Scandinavian-like. It comes in a smart cherry finish that blends in well with most modern furniture. The writing area is smooth and well-proportioned. It's not like a lot of desks you see in stores that are heavy, bulky and hard to move. This is extremely easy!
This contemporary desk features a built-in CD rack made out of sturdy chrome, which to me is more for show than anything else. If you try to insert your Cd's in the slots they just fall out because there's nothing to rest them on. Not a big deal for me since I don't play my music on my computer or store my Cd's there.
It also includes spacious storage racks, a glass shelf and pull-out keyboard tray. It measures 47-1/4 "W x 23 5/8 "D x 36" H. Plenty of room to fit your keyboard, mouse, legal pad and a few odds and ends on.
When I was putting mine together I decided not to install the keyboard tray because I had read some reviews where it was hard to slide it in and out. Glad I left it out because when I took it out of the box the components looked cheap, as if they would break easily. In return I got much more legroom, which in the end I'd much rather prefer.
About the only complaint I have is that it took me an eternity to put it together, at least 6 hours. If you've assembled a desk before or have a husband who's handy around the house, then it probably wouldn't take as long. But I'm a novice and not use to putting a desk together. The directions are not user-friendly. The Z-line desk comes with a lot of different types of screws, plus glue and a complicated looking diagram. At one point I was so frustrated at trying to figure out how to put a shelf in I had to go back to the store to see how it was done. Looking back it would've been much easier if they used color pictures for their diagram or had a tutorial online. Are you listening Z-line?
All in all, now that it's finished I am quite pleased with the results. I love my desk! I don't know what I ever did without it. At the bargain price of $79.99, it was a real steal. I bought it at Staples last summer. In person it looks a lot more expensive then it actually is, which makes it an even better deal! I've had a lot of compliments on it.
Even though it was a pain to put together it was definitely worth it. I would highly recommend buying the Z-line Pacific Desk.
