Zodiac: What Sign Are You?

Carol Roach
You can't teach an old dog new tricks. I have heard that expression all my life and found that even though it meant older people are set in their ways, it never really applied to me. It didn't apply to me until now that is. You see although I might be slower at learning things than some people, I do want to learn. Until now that is.

Okay enough of the suspense time to get down to the issue at hand. For soon to be 56 years of my life I have been a Pisces. I find that the sign reflects my personality. Even though I do not live by the horoscope, I am comfortably in saying that I am a Pisces. Those two little fish swimming in opposite directions often demonstrate my indecisiveness. You see a characteristic of Pisces is that we tend to look at every angle of a situation, before we make a decision. My friends here on Associated Content will attest to that. I show every possible angle I can think of in my writing.

Pisces are artists, painters, dancers, actors, writers, and you know that to be true of me. I am a very passionate writer. Pisces champion the underdogs of society; you know I do that too. Pisces are often healers, I am a counsellor/therapist by training though now retired. Pisces are very sensitive. I am, and sometimes it shows here on AC as I get touchy about certain things that are said to me. Most of the time I try to hide that. Pisces are dreamers, well I am not sure if I am that, I do not see myself as a dreamer. I am more a pragmatic and analytical type. But heck astrologers can't get everything right.

Have I lived my life to be a true Pisces, heck no. I just lived my life, and my personality paralleled the characteristic put forth for a Pisces. Do I bother to read the daily horoscope - absolutely not! Do I identify with Pisces - absolutely. Do I want to give up that identity - no way.

Why does all this matter you might be wondering?

Well let me explain.

As you may know, it was the ancient Babylonians who created the horoscope. It has long been believed that there originally was 13 signs, but the Babylonians discarded one sign because it did not fit in with their cosmic view of the universe; 12 was a well rounded number bearing a significant in the numerology of the times.;13 was not.

Now modern day western astrologers are bringing back that 13th sign, which is named Ophiuchus. Ophiuchus is positioned between Sagittarius and Capricorn.

They claim the change is because the earth has changed its alignment, so the zodiac positioning must change as well. It took 3,000 years for the earth to change in order to accommodate this sign. Though the Babylonians knew of it long ago and the Eastern Hindu astrologers have incorporated Ophiuchus in the Sidereal Zodiac long ago as well.

Here's a list of the updated new zodiac signs:

Capricorn: Jan. 20 - Feb. 16
Aquarius: Feb. 16 - March 11
Pisces: March 11- April 18
Aries: April 18- May 13
Taurus: May 13- June 21
Gemini: June 21- July 20
Cancer: July 20- Aug. 10
Leo: Aug. 10- Sept. 16
Virgo: Sept. 16- Oct. 30
Libra: Oct. 30- Nov. 23
Scorpio: Nov. 23- Nov. 29
Ophiuchus: Nov. 29- Dec. 17
Sagittarius: Dec. 17- Jan. 20

This change for the western horoscope is all so sudden and we the little people do not have time to adjust. There is controversy within the field of astrology as well. Many astrologers are saying even though everyone knew there was a 13th sign there is no reason to change the zodiac now.

There is some talk that the new signs only affect people born after 2009. However, I see no internet sources to back it up.

Nevertheless, it suits me just fine because I am not about to change my sign.

I don't live by the Zodiac, but i have always prided myself on being a cancerian. I was a caregiver by profession and I'm still a caregiver now. I don't want to be anything other than what I have always been. ;)

I know nothing about astrology, and care even less. Good article, however.

I'm a Pisces too, and still am with the new zodiac dates. Like you, I do behave with most of the Pisces traits. So, we both have a birthday coming up. Yes?
