Zodiac Signs Changed 2011, New Sign Ophiuchus

Jeffrey Weeks
You may have heard that there's been a change in zodiac signs. Apparently, the Earth's new alignment has influenced the dates of each zodiac sign and have even added a 13th zodiac sign called Ophiuchus .

"Because of this change in the tilt, the Earth is over here and the sun is in a different constellation than it was 3,000 years ago when this study of the stars began," astronomer Parke Kunkle told media outlets.

Twitter exploded at the news, and not everyone is onboard with the new signs. Astrologers tried to control the panic.

The popular astrologer Susan Miller called the news "ridiculous." In an interview with ABC News, she said, "We've known about this for ages. The constellations don't suggest what's coming up, it's the planets! The constellations are a measuring device."

"In ancient days there were, like, 50 constellations. Then they finally got together and agreed on 18. Then they narrowed it down," says Miller. "I'm getting so many tweets. Trying to explain something technical in 140 characters is hard!"

The original zodiac signs were first established 3,000 years ago and since then bit by bit the Earth's alignment in relation to the Sun has been changing. According to those proposing the new list not everyone will have a change in their zodiac sign. Check out the list below to know the new zodiac sign dates:

Surely it only matters which star sign you were born into, as this Ophiuchus has only been applicable now.
I was born a Scorpio, and that was accurate for the times, and this new zodiac will be appropriate for new borns only.

ie. the babies born between the 29th nov - 17th dec will be the first, and only ophiuchus children so far.

Maybe it's jjust me, but did anyone notice that the newzodiac proposals overlap on the last and first days, so if you were born on the last day of one you also are in the first day of the next, I think it should be separated better. there needs to be a rethink
