Zombies are typically mindless , hungry, angry, cursed, and diseased infested humans or the undead following their basest instincts for feeding, violence, and a wild desire to spread their vicious disease to everyone in their way. Through the use of voodoo people can be brought to life and controlled by a shaman, for example, the first zombie movie White Zombie released in 1937 was based around the Haitian folklore. In the modern movies the zombies evolved to the slow moving undead ghoul from the 1960's movie The Night of the Living Dead to the fast running zombies of Resident Evil, 28 Days and Weeks later and other movies. All of these movies attempt to answer the same question whether or not humanity could really survive or become extinct from a zombie outbreak. Well can it? Yes, the zombies are not a thinking or a weapon wielding enemy, so they wouldn't have a fighting chance against the United States military if the outbreak is caught within the first 24 hours after the first infection.

In the typical zombie movie the authorities during the initial phase of the infection treat the zombies as if they are still rational humans. The A-10 would help a little in the crowd control of the zombies, but the B 52 will kill a lot more zombies. The B- 52 carry up to 51 CBU 87 cluster bombs . Zombie's major weapon are in their shear numbers, arms and hands to grasp and infect their victim with their bite to both kill and infect the victim. They surround and overcome their victim with their numbers they have no fear, so they continue to walk into the wall of bullets.

Zombies wouldn't have a chance against the modern military; however, if the problem is not confronted within the first 24 hours. The problem will far beyond containing, but the war would continue and be an epic battle. The zombies will be facing off against thinking beings that can think and strategize. Zombies will be roam the earth with acting on their whims. The zombies will not a have battle plan against their enemies. As, the last resort would be to nuke the zombies until they all are incinerated.
