If you see the movie Zookeeper starring Kevin James, Rosario Dawson, Ken Jeong, Leslie Bibb, Donnie Wahlberg, Adam Sandler, Sylvester Stallone, Jon Favreau and Judd Apatow, now available on DVD, don't be too quick in switching off the movie when it's done because you'd be missing one of the best bits with Boston's "More Than a Feeling" playing on the Zookeeper Soundtrack's end credits.
Besides VH1 declaring "More Than a Feeling" as one of the Top 40 hard rock songs of all time, it's fabulousness was celebrated in Zookeeper by having the movie's menagerie of animals lip syncing along with the classic Boston vocals on the movie's end credits intercut with out takes from the production including a scene with Rosario Dawson and Kevin James cracking up.
The sequence starts off with a gorilla and capuchin monkey sitting side by side on a bench and the gorilla casually swaying back and forth to the groove and as he turns to the monkey, the hammy capuchin kicks off with hand on heart and other hand outstretched as if to sing the vocals with full gusto then cuts to a screen shot of an elephant and crow but it's unclear who's doing the singing on that bit until a lionness fills the screen with her lip synced jowls.
It's a brief cut back to the monkey as lead then the fun enthusiastic flapping lips of a giraffe chime on the chorus as a lion and lionness complete the band. It's really the capuchin monkey that gets the most fun out of the song as he throws in a little karate chop dance for the music video. Without giving away the rest, you gotta check it out. It's just plain, silly fun.
To round out the end credits, the outtakes feature Kevin James commitment to physical comedy and the "risk" involved in doing so with multiple takes that look a bit awkward and clunky as a stunt guy on a bike takes a rough tumble after goodness knows how many takes.
Besides Boston's "More Than a Feeling" being included on the Soundtrack to Zookeeper, the song was also featured in the movie Burlesque starring Cher and Christina Aguilera. The song has been racking up movie royalties for Boston's Tom Scholz by also being featured in The Men Who Stare at Goats, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Foxes, Babe: Pig in the City and more.
Zookeeper starring Kevin James was originally released in theaters July 8, 2011 with the DVD release on October 11, 2011.
