I took it home and unpacked it. It has a nice green finish and is housed in aluminum. The Zoom A2 acoustic guitar effect processor's features are as follows.
24-bit / 96 kHz sampling and sound modeling technology that brings out the sweet tone of your acoustic guitar.
Amp and pickup select that allows you to get an authentic acoustic sound regardless of what kind of amp or PA you're plugged into or what type of guitar pickup you're using.
A feedback control feature to control and eliminate feedback that is commonly a problem when amplifying acoustic guitars.
47 high-quality effects implemented with 32-bit processing including the following...A limiter/compressor to help you control the peaks in your sound, an air effect that simulates the room's ambiance, a detune effect that helps you get a 12 string sound out of your 6 string acoustic guitar, and a resonator effect that helps you get a resonator guitar sound out of your regular 6 string acoustic guitar. Of course the common effects like a multi-tap delay and long delay, reverse delay, flanger, phaser, 3 different types of chorus effects, 9 different types of reverb, and various other studio-class effects are all included.
A simulation mode that allows you to get a simulated sound of some of the best sounding and legendary acoustic guitars in history. The Zoom A2 acoustic guitar effects processor and make the sound of your $300 USD acoustic / electric guitar sound identical to a $2300.00 USD Marin D-28 acoustic guitar. Other model guitars simulations included in the Zoom A2 acoustic guitar effects processor are a Gibson SJ-200, a Marin 000-18, a Gibson J-45, a Tacoma C3C, an Ovation Adamas, and several other types of guitars and brands of guitars.
Any of the presets can be edited to tweak the sound to your liking or you can start from scratch and create and save your own mix of effects.
40 presets that are already stored in the unit and the ability to program 40 of your own.
A built-in tuner
An integrated drum machine
It operates on 6 AA batteries or on the included AC adapter
I found the unit to be very quite in operation and that's a good thing. No noise or pause when changing effects in the middle of a song. I get a lot of complements on my sound from this little unit. People often tell me that my $450.00 USD Alvarez AC60CK acoustic / electric guitar sounds like a much more expensive Martin guitar. I never tell them though that most of the time, I'm using the simulated Martin D-28 effect that's included in the Zoom A2 to get that sound.
For a street price of about $100.00 USD, you can't go wrong with this unit. I would recommend this to anyone who wants a versatile and low cost effects processor for their acoustic / electric guitar.
