Zoos in Michigan

There are many fun and interesting things to do in Michigan. The Zoo is an excellent place to take your family for a day out. Going to the zoo is not only fun and a great place to spend with your family, but also a great learning experience. Zoos have many things to see, including animals, educational shows, conservation activities and much more. Some of the zoos in Michigan are the Children's Zoo at Celebration Square, The Detroit Zoo, the DeYoung Family Zoo, Garlyn Zoological Park, and The Potter Park Zoo, along with many others.

The Children's Zoo at Celebration Square is located at 1730 S. Washington Ave in Saginaw, Michigan. This zoo has many attractions and events, with 4 special events each year. They have over 150 animals such as capuchins, kangaroos, penguins, alligators and many others. They also have many insects, birds, reptiles, amphibians, and invertebrates. You can locate their 2009 admission charges and hours at their website www.saginawzoo.com. They have gardens, educational programs, zoo camps, and conservation programs also available. You can book special events and reserve a party tent. Become a zoo member and get discounts. You can also call them at (989) 759-1408 to make reservations and get information.

Another great zoo to visit is The Detroit Zoo located at 8450 W. 10 Mile Rd. in Royal Oak, Michigan. Their many attractions include Artic Ring of Life, Amphibiville, African Grasslands, Australian Outback, Wild Adventure Ride, and the Tauber Family Railroad among many others. Conservation and education programs, Belle Isle Nature Zoo, event rentals, food, gift shop, and zoo photos are also some interesting things to do and see while at The Detroit Zoo.

The DeYoung Family Zoo Located at N 5406 County Rd577 in Wallace, Michigan is open year round and offers many wonderful animals for you to view and enjoy. They have big cats, bears, primates, canines, hyenas, reptiles, birds, and odd and exotic animals. They also have North American species such as coyotes, fox, raccoons, and porcupines. Take your children in to the petting zoo and also buy feed for the animals. In Michigan's U.P. you can find many interesting places to visit including Garlyn Zoological Park. It is located on US-2 about 40 minutes west of the Mackinac Bridge and about 6 miles east of the town of Naubinway, right across from Lake Michigan. With many great sites to see such as the African spur thigh tortoise, alligator, bears, birds, bison, bobcat, camel, coati-mundi, cougar-mountain, coyote, domestic animals, sika deer, river otter, wallaby, whitetail deer, and wolves, you are sure to find an animal or two that each member of the family will enjoy. Your family will enjoy visiting Lansing when you take them to Potter Park Zoo, located at 1301 S Pennsylvania Ave. They have events such as the Rhino Romp, Zookambi 2009, Boo at the Zoo, and many others. Rent a safari room and plan to have a birthday party there. The exhibits there include aldabra tortoise, bald eagles, bongos, lions, muntjac, oryx, Pallas' cat, penguins, red pandas, snow leopards, tamarins, tigers, wolves and more. Visit the backyard gardens, barnyard and petting zoo, bird and reptile house. You will enjoy the clownfish, corals, and conservation, education center, feline and primate house, wolf woods, duck pond, pony rides, and camel rides.
