Zootoo Aids Needy Animals Via User Generated Web Site

Nannette Richford
As of Monday, Zootoo.com, the first user-generated website for pet lovers, is up and running. It is designed to provide pet lovers with the opportunity to rate and review pet products, read other pet owner's reviews, locate services, and connect to shelters that need volunteers.

Meow mixes former CEO, Richard Thomas says: "Zootoo will create an entirely new proactive pet community. We intend to raise the bar for the pet industry and help pets and the people who love them by rating and reviewing products and services. Users will help other pet lovers make the right choices for their pets and Zootoo will identify issues -- like tainted pet food -- before manufacturers announce a recall."

Registered Zootoo members earn Zootoo Points for writing reviews, referring new members, or volunteering in shelters. At the present time these points are used to enter a contest that will award a pool of prizes worth $10,000.

The member with the most Zootoo Points receives the Grand Prize of $4,000. First place winner will receive $2350, Second Place Winner will receive $1,100, Third Place Winner will receive will receive $850; 4th Place Winner will receive $600; 5th Place Winner will receive $400; 6th Place Winner will receive $250; 7th Place winner will receive $200; 8th Place winner will receive $150; and 9th Place Winner will receive $100. See www.zootoo.com for complete rules.

Zootoo provides information and product reviews for all pets from cats and dogs to fish and horses. This easy to use site connects volunteers with shelters in their area and provides an interactive map to show where particular services are located. The user simply types in their zip code and clicks on the service they are looking for, whether it is a pet store, groomer, or a veterinarian. A detailed road map appears and an icon appears for each service. On the side, there are links to specific service providers, complete with street address and phone number. Also included are any reviews written by other pet owners.

Products to be reviewed are presented with the manufacturer's images and advertisements. When a user clicks on the product, he can read reviews from other users. The review contains a section for both the pros and cons of the product and a short written review.

Zootoo offers high quality video on the site to bring "Zootoo News" featuring stories of what's happening to pets around the globe. Currently available for viewing is a video describing ways you can help animals by volunteering your services to a local shelter.

Thompson says, "Zootoo gives pet owners a voice to help all pets and local animal shelters -- the first true community of pet lovers."

Zootoo has registered Zootoo House Inc. a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation dedicated to aiding needy animal shelters. There are plans to announce a big event in August 2007. Visit zootoo for future announcements.

Your article is great, but it turned out ZooToo tried to get out of awarding prizes and did not pay up. The shelter that won finally got some money after suing, but not all of it. This site is a phony and (what's a nice word for screwed?) all the people who wrote reviews and tried to win.
