Zorba's has my vote for the best Greek restaurant in the Indy area. Located just northwest of Indy, in Zionsville, the food is great, the staff is warm and friendly, the prices are perfect, and the atmosphere is casual yet classy.

Pros

Great northside location -- wonderful shopping nearby; friendly service; top to bottom, best Greek food in town; great bellydancers every weekend; baklava ice cream

Cons

Limited seating

Description

Patio seating is limited, but the view is wonderful. Main St in Zionsville is brick-lined and beatuiful. Seating inside is also somewhat limited, as the restaurant is a bit cozy. Make reservations or arrive early on the weekend. The saganaki and pita bread were wonderful. Oopa! If you like lasagna, you'll love Zorba's pasticchio. Layers of ground beef, tomato sauce, macaroni, and egg. Great spices. The Nabati vegetarian combo was delicious. Perfect tiropita and spanikopita. The tabouleh was great -- fresh, perky, perfect. My only complaint: I could've liked more than a teaspoonful on my plate. If you like baklava, you're going to love Zorba's baklava ice cream -- the nutty pastry, vanilla soft serve & whipped cream. Zorba's prices can't be beat. Nothing on the menu is over $16.

Full Review

I loved everything about Zorba's. From its quaint Zionsville locale to its personable owners, Sharon and Issa Mustaklem, Zorba's is welcoming and charming. You, too, will enjoy sharing scrumptious pasticchio and conversation with your friends in this vibrant restaurant. Make plans to dine on a Friday or Saturday night, and you'll probably meet the owners, Sharon and Issa, and you'll see some of the best bellydancing in the northside of Indy.

Stay Away! Seriously. You can get better quality Gyro meat and the like at your local Champps! Don't let the nice location fool you. Food was embarrassing, service not much better. Not only did it take 20 minutes for the lettuce and feta salad (their Greek salad) and almost 1 hour for the entrée, when gyro plate arrived at luke warm temperature, the beef was dry, the rice and beans bland in the hopes that over used and clumped paprika would cover the mess that was presented. I could see a delay in getting our meals if they were busy, but the place was at 30% capacity (2 tables in front of us). On a Saturday night, they were out of every beer on the menu (except for the Greek), which actually worked in our favor. The beer was the best part of the whole experience. Bottom line, try this place only to say you've been there before they go under and close the doors. I can see why we got seated right away on a Saturday night at 7pm.

It is a wonderful little restaurant. Playing there regularly has its perks--mainly a meal for every night we perform. We've never been disappointed!

Great article, very informative. I know Il Troubadore is there periodically and I have been meaning to go.
