Zsa Zsa Gabor Released from Hospital to Spend Final Days at Home with Family
Her publicist released a statement to the press detailing the set backs Gabor, 93, has experienced since having hip replacement surgery last month. The statement spoke of Gabor's long life and that she was in a comfortable place and ready to spend her final days surrounded by family and friends.
In the same statement Zsa Zsa's husband Prince Frederick von Anhalt said he was bringing his wife home to die in peace, and he had made the decision to not put Zsa Zsa through anymore surgeries. Doctor's only gave Gabor a 50/50 chance of surviving the surgery to her liver.
Zsa Zsa Gabor had already requested a priest be brought in to her hospital room Saturday to perform last right son her fearing her death was imminent. Gabor left a Los Angeles hospital on Monday and returned home with her husband.
Her publicist said in the statement, "Frederick said he did not want to torture her anymore. She is in and out of consciousness. She had a great run. She's 93. She knew five presidents...she knew kings and queens, celebrities."
Zsa Zsa broke her hip on July 17th when she fell out of bed trying to reach her television remote control. The actress had been bedridden since being left partially paralyzed after a 2002 car accident. She left the hospital initially last week, but returned Friday after developing two blood clots.
Zsa Zsa Gabor has been a fixture on the Hollywood scene since the 1950's. The Hungarian born actress and her sisters Eva and Magda brought glitz and glamor to their movies and television appearances.
Between the three sisters and their mother Jolie the women were famous for having over 20 husbands between them. Zsa Zsa was the only one of the sisters to have a child, Francesca Hilton, with husband Conrad Hilton.
