Microsoft Zune
Microsoft had to make a music player that was really good to beat Apple who's iPods have been dominating the music industry for the past seven years. The Zune is Microsoft's product and it has faired remarkably well compared to the army of iPod lovers Apple has created. Zune is quickly beginning to make a mark on the portable music industry. Here we will discuss the pros and cons of both the iPod and the Zune.
Pros.
The Zune has had many pros such as:
It has a FM radio in which the song you are listening to can be tagged for later purchase
It has an easy and quick to use menu system
It has Wi-Fi and the ability to lend music or videos to other people for a three day trial to see if they want to buy that song or video
Cons.
Here are the cons for the Zune:
Zune has the problem of Digital Rights Managment. Microsoft doesn't allow people to use different music systems and doesn't allow you to sync music that was already purchased and synced even if there was a problem and it didn't go through
The Zune only works on PC's and not Macs
Apple iPod
Apple has made many different versions of it's popular iPod including: the iPod Touch(8GB, 16GB, 32GB), the Nano iPod(8GB, 16GB), the iPod Classic(120GB), and the iPod Shuffle. Apple has dominated the portable music player business for years, and is always working on better ones. Apple's latest iPod is the iPod Touch 2nd generation and iPod Nano 6th generation. Here we will discuss the iPod Nano and the iPod Touch.
Pros.
The iPods have many helpful or just plain cool features including:
The iPod Touch has a touchscreen that is considered one of the best of it's time
If you check the disc box on the iPod Nano's iTunes you can turn your iPod into a flash drive
Both of the types of iPods can play music, video, and photos
The iPod Touch can use internet when in an Wi-Fi zone
The latest iPods have accelerometers so that it responds so that you can play a racing game by simply tilting the iPod
Cons.
Some of the iPod cons have been discussed by many critics. One con is the higher price. iPods tend to be more expensive than competing MP3 players, such as the Zune. For example, the 32 GB iPod touch can retail for as much as $399, while a 120 GB Zune with video capabilities retails for $250.
Another con is the battery life of the iPods. Many argue the battery life of the iPod is not as good as it should be.
Conclusion
Which is better? Well, that's up to you to decide. These are the two best music players in my opinion and if you were to get either one you would not be disappointed.
