I have suffered from terrible indoor/outdoor allergies since I was a baby. I have tried all the antihisimines and decongestants out on the market today and have found Zyrtec-D works the best.
I love my Zyrtec-D. Zyrtec-D Generic name
Cetirizine/Pseudoephedrine/(seh-tih-rih-zeen/sue-doe-eh-FED-rin).
I love how this over the counter, tiny miracle pill. It relieves my nasal and non-nasal symptoms associated with seasonal allergies such as water or itchy eyes, runny nose, sneezing, and stuffy nose. Zyrtec is a 12-hour Decongestant (Pseudoephedine and anti-histamine, which causes allergy symptoms). It also shrinks swollen nasal passages, which relieve nasal passages. Once prescribed by a doctor, it is now available over the counter at your nearest neighborhood drugstore.
I have to admit that I brought it because of the commercial. You know the one; with the dark-haired lady dressed in a billowy yellow blouse excited about using Zyrtec-D to combat her indoor/outdoor allergies. She smiles as she talks about how her life has changed since taking Zyrtec-D while walking through scenes of forests, woods, and wide fields of grass.
There are side-affects of course, like any other medicine. The side-affects of Zyrtec-D are racing heartbeat and drowsiness. I work at night and once took a Zyrtec-D before work and I felt drowsy. I was slow at work and wanted to find a place to sleep. I slept deeply when I arrived home. Drowsiness, is not so horrible side-affect for people who are sleep deprived. I do not go to sleep easily. I have to read myself to sleep and sometimes I don't want to read. I watch T.V. instead and this keeps me from sleeping. It must be because I work at night. (My schedule is from 4pm to 11pm).
Zyrtec-D has a high potency of drowsiness. It makes you a little drowsy at first, and then knocks you the hell out an hour after taking it. All you see is black and then you wake up the next morning. However, it does the job of opening your nasal passages and letting you breathe for 12 hours. Only make sure you do take it after the 12 hours. Like any over the counter medicine, it is dangerous to overdose and the instructions should always be read.
